. 4th International Symposium on Geospatial Health "A One Health Approach to Geospatial Health"August 13th-14th 2010 Early registration: Before June 1, 2010 AUS $210 Late registration: After June 1, 2010 AUS $260 To view a copy of the program please click here To view a participant information please click here
This symposium will showcase the emerging field of geospatial health. The special theme of the 4th International Symposium will be a one health approach to geospatial health which recognises the potential synergies of collaborative research and service integration between human health and veterinary sciences, particularly with regards to zoonotic and other emerging diseases. Other themes covered in the symposium will be geospatial health applications to parasitic diseases; spatial epidemiological tools to support malaria control and elimination; environmental determinants of health; and methodological advances in geospatial health. All people with a research, government, educational or other relevant background with an interest in geospatial health, geographical information systems, remote sensing, cartography, spatial epidemiology or biostatistics are welcome and encouraged to attend. If you plan to attend the satellite only please download and complete this registration form and send back to the ASN events office. You can either; Fax: +61 35983 2223 or E-mail:

Australia Kinetoplastid Drug Discovery MeetingSaturday August 14th - 15th 2010 9:00am - 5:00pm This will be a follow up to the Kinetoplastid Drug Discovery meetings held Kin Dundee, Scotland in February 2007 and in Seattle in January of 2009. We propose to conduct a one and a half-day meeting of key stakeholders in the Trypanosomatid Drug Discovery community. Ken Stuart and Ron Quinn will Co-Chair the meeting and the format will be a series of sessions organized as a drug discovery pipeline where each group can give updates on the status of their activities followed by in-depth discussion. Attendance is by invitation only. Consortium on Anthelmintic Resistance SNPs (CARS) MeetingSaturday August 14th 2010 in Room 211 There is a cost of $70 to attend this meeting and you must advise

The CARS (Consortium for Anthelmintic Resistance SNPs) group is aiming to developing molecular markers for anthelmintic resistance in important helminth parasites of animals and humans. The group recognises the need to develop genotyping assays to determine the frequencies of genetic changes (SNPs) which cause, or are associated with, anthelmintic resistance in populations of parasitic nematodes and other helminths. Participants come from academia, government research institutes and departments, the pharmaceutical and animal health industries, United Nations organizations and producer groups.
